Fuzzy Warm Things

This poem came out of PoetrIE's February Poem a Day. I haven't edited it at all or changed it but it seems to be fitting to the theme of my life lately and what God has been teaching me.  Especially since he has been pushing me out of my comfort a lot lately, with my trip to Thailand that is coming up as well as the conference I'll be attending this month where I will be ministering to women in the sex industry. So anyways here you are :)

Fuzzy Warm Things

Can we really get too comfortable?

I know lots of people, including myself, who at first glance would say “no.”

Let’s think again

What our comfort can cost us.

To continue “comfortably” will make us surprisingly bored.

Stagnant

Feeling as though there has to be more to this

Life than

Couches, warm fuzzy blankies, big T.V.’s, snuggies, pillow pets, Ipods etc.

We are drawn to drama when our lives are so centered around stuff

We need to

Get

To

Experience something

Because it’s like we’re trapped in this box.

Life is happening someplace else and

We

Must

Know

About it

I think suffering does something to us

It wakes us up to what’s really important.

Not “who slept with who?” “who did what to whom?” or “yes please”

Fastfood, more stuff, ignore, ignore

The crap in the world     but

Life

Honest

True

Love- unconditioned

Beauty

Pain

This world has oxygen, animals, plants, starving children, slaves

Do something

That matters

Follow something worth it
